We are thrilled to have acclaimed anti-racist grassroots organizer and trainer, Lisa Fithian, present one of her renowned nonviolent direct-action training sessions!

Mother Jones Magazine described Lisa as “the nation’s best-known protest consultant,” and dubbed her “Professor Occupy.”  She has shut down the CIA, occupied Wall Street, disrupted the WTO, stood her ground in Tahrir Square, walked in solidarity with leaders at Standing Rock and Ferguson, and defended communities in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  Using creative, strategic nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience, Lisa has won many battles and trained tens of thousands of activists while participating in a range of movements and mobilizations including the climate justice movement, immigrants' rights, corporate globalization protests all over the world, and so much more!  Fithian is living proof that the best way to radically and rapidly transform the ills of our society is through nonviolent direct action grounded in strong beliefs, creativity, and sheer, unwavering courage.  She argues that civil disobedience is much more than an act of resistance; it’s a spiritual pursuit that allows us to reclaim our humanity and protect what we love.
